About SoccerSmart

We help young players understand the game.

SoccerSmart teaches soccer IQ to players U8 to U18 and gives their clubs one simple place to run the season.

What SoccerSmart is

SoccerSmart is a website for youth soccer. It has two halves that work together.

For players, it teaches the thinking side of soccer. Players watch plays move step by step on an animated board. They answer quizzes about where to be and what to do next. They make quick choices against the clock in Game Speed. They practice drills at home and read short Learn pages and position cards.

For clubs, it runs the season. Clubs use it for registration and tryouts, building teams, fields and schedules, fees, messages and a club website. Online card payments are coming soon. Coaches use it for their roster, practice plans, lineups and homework drills. Families use it to register, see fees, check the schedule and hear from the coach.

Who it’s for

  • Players, U8 to U18What you see fits your age group and your position. Younger players get fewer choices. Older players get harder ones.
  • CoachesVolunteer or paid, with one team or ten. Less time on paperwork, more time coaching.
  • FamiliesYour child’s whole season in one place, in plain words.
  • ClubsClub admins, registrars, treasurers and boards who keep the club running.

What makes it different

  • Soccer IQ by age and position, in one place.Plays, quizzes, Game Speed, position cards and Learn pages work together. They are made for each age group and each position.
  • Learning by deciding.Youth coaching around the world favors games over lines and laps. Our quizzes and Game Speed ask the same question a game does: what would you do?
  • One site for the player and the club.A coach can send a homework drill and see who did it. A family sees the schedule, fees and messages in the same place as their player’s learning.
  • Built for kids from the start.Players sign in with a player name and PIN, not an email. A parent agrees before a child is registered, and clubs can ask for a parent’s OK before a player under 13 saves anything. Other families see “Ava K.”, never a child’s full name.
  • Plain words. We write for the youngest reader on the page. If a 10-year-old can’t follow it, we write it again.

Why we exist

Most young players practice a few times a week. Coaches spend much of that time on the ball, and they should. But knowing where to be and what to do next is hard to practice alone. Players often learn it slowly, by making the same mistake in many games.

SoccerSmart lets players practice those decisions any day, at home, at their own level. A short quiz before practice, or a play watched on the way to a game, adds up over a season.

Clubs are mostly run by volunteers. Many juggle a different tool for registration, schedules, payments and messages. We think one place, built with kids’ safety in mind, gives those volunteers their evenings back. And it leaves more time for the soccer.
